Abstract

Background: The prevalence of bronchiolitis in children is estimated to increase. The main factors that support the increasing incidence of bronchiolitis in children are the lack of breastfeeding and air pollution such as cigarette smoke. Objective: The purpose of this study was to conduct a literature search on the effectiveness of high flow nasal cannula oxygenation therapy in children with bronchiolitis. Method: The study used a literature review study at EBSCO using the keywords "Bronchiolithis", "High Flow Nasal Cannula", and "Children". The journal period used is 2016-2021. Result: The use of high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) in children with bronchiolitis is more effective to administer. Conclusion: The use of oxygen therapy with a high flow nasal cannula has many advantages, namely being able to reduce the workload of breathing during inspiration, clearing dead space in the respiratory tract in the nasopharynx, being able to reduce metabolic workload, reducing bronchostriction, and reducing hydration in the mucosa. respiratory tract
