Abstract

A big scale of earthquake is often to involve fatalities and material loss. Education of natural disaster is one of priority to be part of mitigation to prevent more loses and fatalities. Through education of natural disaster is expected will able to change an awareness and strengthen the character of next generation to face the natural disaster. Objective: The main aim of this research is to analyze the factors of disaster awareness. Method: The type of this research is “exploration descriptive” with design of cross sectional study. Population that has been used is teachers and staff academic at SLB N Pembina Yogyakarta. Sampling method used in this research is purposive sampling. Results: The Domain factor of awareness for natural disaster is following below: 1) Skill to protect and avoid hazard, 2) Skill to identify hazard, risk, susceptible and impact of disaster, 3) Acces information, knowledge and skill to response a disaster, 4) Proper action to avoid material/property losses, 5) Develop skill to protect their self during disaster.
