Abstract

Decubitus wound (pressure ulcer) is one of complication of an individual suffering from stroke which lead to a serious problem provided that this is left untreated. One of various nursing interventions is initiated to prevent this issue is effleurage massage, the aim of which is to maintain effectiveness of blood flow and skin integrity. The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of effleurage massage on decubitus wound prevention of patients with stoke in RSUD Cibabat-Cimahi. The methods of this research is Quasy Experiment with post-test only with control group design, and it involved 30 hospitalized that were devided in to two main groups (a control group and an experimental group), each of which consisted of up to 15 patients. The occurence of the wound was evaluated as after effleurage massage was given in the frequency of tree times a day. Obtained data was analyzed constantly with an univariate analysis, which was used to determine the characteristic of the respondent involved. Chi-Square analysis was used as a bivariate analysis to represent the effect of independent variable on dependent one. Statistical result implies significant occurence of decubitus wound in both groups (P-value 0,032) with OR of 0,733, which brings to a summary that effleurage massage is effectiveness in preventing decubitus wound of patients with stroke.
